Ketchikan's historic red light district, Creek StreetTRAVELING TO KETCHIKAN

Traveling to Ketchikan is easier than you think, with a 90 minute Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle, Washington. Alaska Airlines has several flights in and out of Ketchikan daily which make us very accessible no matter where you live.

We are also linked to Washington State and the rest of southeast Alaska by way of the Alaska Marine Highway. The marine highway is an exciting and economical way to see Alaska. With these great options, planning your Alaskan getaway has never been more convenient! Salty Sea Charters can also help with your lodging needs. While fishing with us we recommend staying at Salmon Run Vacation Rentals for comfortable, affordable lodging, with a fantastic view right on the water. Ask us about flight seeing to Misty Fjords National Monument and other exciting activities & tours in the Tongass National Forest. Getting here is easy… it's wanting to leave that's hard!

Ketchikan morningKetchikan is a Cruise Ship Destination
Ketchikan is a great port for fishing if you are arriving by cruise ship. Some of the best salmon fishing action takes place just minutes away from where your cruise ship docks, giving you plenty of time to test your luck and abilities at pulling in some of Alaska's precocious salmon. There is also great bottom fishing opportunities for halibut and other bottom dwellers such as ling cod and rock fish. Whatever your time table is while your ship is in port, we will be happy to accommodate your schedule and fishing desires.

Saxman Totem PolesTrip Details for Those Staying in Ketchikan
Once you have booked with us, you will need to make arrangements for a car rental and lodging needs. To get started fishing, you will need an Alaskan fishing license that you can purchase through us or online with the Alaska Department of Fishing & Game. A fishing license is $20 plus a $10 king salmon stamp, children under 16 are exempt.

Our boat is parked at Bar Harbor which is at the north end of town. On the morning of your fishing charter, we will meet at the marina. Fishing charters usually begin early in the morning, but we will be happy to accommodate your schedule. We offer 4 hour, 6 hour, and all day fishing charters. Running time to the fishing grounds depends upon length of charter, time of year and desired catch. When fishing for halibut, we will run anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Running time for salmon can take 15 minutes to 2 hours. Catch bright salmon in Ketchikan, Alaska

Ketchikan's weather is unpredictable and we recommend that you layer your clothing. The weather conditions in the summer can change in a minute, ranging from cold and drizzly in the 50's, to sunny and warm in the 70's. Also, don't forget your sunglasses and sunscreen; the reflection off the water can be very bright and intense. We provide a light snack and beverages, but recommend that you pack a lunch for all day charters.

For shipping and processing your fish, we will take them to Cedars Lodge where you can pose with your bounty of the day before they are filleted, flash frozen, and boxed. Processing is approximately $4.50 a pound and will be shipped overnight to your home on the day you specify.
